Researchers at the Departments of Microbiology and Pathology from The University of Hong Kong found that pandemic H1N1 virus can infect humans via conjunctiva. The article entitled "Tropism and Innate Host Responses of the 2009 Pandemic H1N1 Influenza Virus in ex Vivo and in Vitro Cultures of Human Conjunctiva and Respiratory Tract" by Chan M.C. et al. has been published in American Journal of Pathology.
