HKU-Pasteur Research Pole and the Centre of Influenza Research of HKU will welcome Dr. Lee Kim Swee for a seminar entitled “Investigating development and function of myeloid cells using chemical and genetic screens”
Dr. Lee Kim Swee is a group leader at the recently launched BioMed X Innovation Center, Heidelberg, Germany. He obtained his PhD degree at the University of Basel, Switzerland and postdoctoral training at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research/MIT, USA. Since March 2014, Dr. Swee is heading the Merck-sponsored research team at BioMed X that explores mechanisms operating in the immunosuppressive microenvironment of tumors. Abstract
"In the present study, we describe a system based on immortalized progenitors that allows straightforward investigation of myeloid cells. We performed a chemical phenotypic screening and identified 3-deazaneplanocin A as novel modulator of MDSC functions. Most importantly, this differentiation platform facilitates the identification of regulators of myeloid cells development and biology through genetic screenings." Date: Thursday, 10th November 2016 Time: 11:00 am. Venue: Rm 7-03, HKJC Building for Interdisciplinary Research 5 Sassoon Road, Pokfulam ALL ARE WELCOME
