The article entitled "Neurobiology of infectious diseases: Bringing them out of neglect" by Bruzzone R et al. has been published in Progress in Neurobiology. It introduces a Special issue of Progress in Neurobiology entitled "Neglected Infectious Diseases of the Nervous System: Pathogenesis and Global Impact" dedicated to the field of neuroinfections. The issue includes a series of reviews based on presentations given at the conference "Infectious diseases of the nervous system: Pathogenesis and worldwide impact" which was held at Institut Pasteur in Paris, on September 10-13, 2008.
