Advanced Course on Antibiotics (AdCAb), October 10-21, 2016, Les Pensières, Annecy (France)

The Fondation Mérieux and the Institut Pasteur organizes an Advanced Course on Antibiotics (AdCAb).

When? 10-21 October 2016 (2 weeks)

Where? Les Pensières, Annecy (France)

What? The specific goal of AdCAb is to bring leaders and innovators in academics and industry together with highly trained scientists to share cutting-edge approaches and technologies for determination of antibacterial activity, detection of potential resistance mechanisms, antibiotic discovery, chemical optimization and usage that maximizes their utility and minimizes the development of resistance, including exploring public health, social, economic, political and ethical issues of antibiotic resistance.

Target? Early career scientists-assistant professors, new industry scientists, MDs, and postdoctoral research associates.

Institut Pasteur International Network course: “Cell Biology and infection: Digital Image Processing/Analysis Tools for Quantitative Light Microscopy Imaging”, Hellenic Pasteur Institute, Athens, Greece

The Hellenic Pasteur Institute (Athens, Greece) organizes a 5-day practical course, from 4 to 8 July 2016, with objective to provide theoretical and practical training in basic and advanced concepts and methods of Bioimage informatics.

Deadline for application: April 30, 2016

The course Program will include:
1. Lectures focused on concepts and methodology for Processing/Analysis of Light Microscopy Digital data (images and videos) and selected topics of Cell Biology and Biology of Pathogen Host interaction.
2. Computer practical sessions on the quantitative analysis of microscopy image datasets using the open source software Icy and ImageJ/Fiji
3. Informal discussions and tutorials with experts in the field

The course is addressed to PhD students, post-doctoral fellows and research assistants, involved in research projects requiring fluorescence microscopy imaging and digital image processing/analysis. Eligible to submit applications are young scientists from any academic institution, but priority will be given to applicants from institutes members of the “Institut Pasteur International Network".

The main aim of this course is to present a complete overview on recent advances in immunology, vaccine, vector biology, and drug discovery/therapy against leishmaniasis.The proposed course objectives will cover 6 different modules:

Module 1: Immunological aspects of experimental leishmaniasis (mouse model)
Cutaneous leishmaniasis
Visceral leishmaniasis

Module 2: Immunological and clinical aspects of Leishmaniasis in humans
Cutaneous leishmaniasis

Module 3: New advances in vaccine development

HKU-Pasteur Research Pole 7th Cell Biology Course, 2nd week!

Today has started the second week of our Cell Biology Course, "Intracellular Traffic in Health and Disease". Students will now focus on the role of vesicular transport and mechanical forces in cancer biology.
They attended the lectures of Pier Paolo Di Fiore from the Institute of Molecular Oncology, University of Milan, Italy (Endocytosis Signaling and Diseases (mostly cancer)) and Michael Sheetz from the Mechanobiology Institute, National University of Singapore (Mechanosensing Through Local Generation and Transduction of Forces).
They will also start to prepare the presentation of their work carried out during the practical workshop sessions.

The Croucher Summer Course in 2016 focuses on the theme of Advances in Immunology in Health and Disease. This 5-day residential course aims for talented postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows and early career researchers to deepen the fundamental knowledge in immunology and to understand the immunological aspects of major diseases. This course is limited to a maximum of 35 participants who will have the opportunities to learn and interact with world-renowned international scientists and local scientists through seminars and interactive discussion sessions.

The 7th HKU-Pasteur Cell Biology Course has started!

Yesterday, on Sunday 6, March 2016, 20 students coming from Hong Kong, Tunisia, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Italy, France, India, United Kingdom have started the 7th HKU-Pasteur Cell Biology course focusing this year on intracellular Traffic in Health and disease.

They will benefit from intense and enlightning interactions all along the 2-week course with a stellar faculty of speakers as well as working together. Questions and learning are going to stream!

After self-presentations, our 20 students divided in 3 groups for the coming practical workshop sessions. Under attentive guidance, they will practicaly study intercellular lysosomal transfer through tunneling nanotubes and the effect of oxydative stress, a method for charting out the interactome of any protein of interest based on proximity dependent labeling, or signal transduction at the podosome.

In addition, they will also attend 14 lectures from prestigious researchers on various topics regarding intracellular trafficking.
