L’Oréal Scholarship for Research Internship: Call for Applications is Closed


You are a postgraduate student or a postdoctoral fellow employed by one of the universities of Hong Kong or Macau and Hong Kong or Macau permanent resident? You are interested in going to Institut Pasteur, Paris, France for up to three months to perform a research internship in cancer biology, cell biology, immunology, neuroscience, parasitology or virology?
The Call for Applications of the l'Oréal Scholarship for Reseach Internship is now open and will close on 7th of December.

L'Oréal Scholarship for Research Internship

Sponsored by L’Oréal Hong Kong and partnered with the HKU–Pasteur Research Centre and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the Scholarship aims at providing outstanding postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows with the opportunity of exposure to the research environment in France through participating in research work in laboratories of the Institut Pasteur, thereby better preparing them for future long-term professional development and career in scientific research.

Postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows and Hong Kong and Macau permanent residents that demonstrate a keen and devoted capability and intention to pursue research studies in France can apply for the Scholarship.

The Scholarship covers financial support (up to HK$45,500) for a period of up to 3 months mainly from June to August when awardees will perform research work in an academic discipline of their choice and in one of the laboratories of the Institut Pasteur in France. The awardees will be supervised by senior researchers of Institut Pasteur at the recommendation of, or reference from the HKU-Pasteur Research Centre.

5th HKU-Pasteur Immunology Course Kick Off

The 5th HKU-Pasteur Immunology Course on Adaptive Immunity has started on 18th of November with the student's self presentation. The course gathers 24 international students from 12 different countries (Argentina, Australia, France, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Malaysia, PR China, Singapore, Taiwan and Tunisia).

The lectures has started on Monday, 19th of November with an overview of innate and adaptive immune responses to influenza virus infection by Patrick READING from the University of Melbourne (check the programme of open public lectures here).
The practicals have started two days after in a cheerful atmosphere. This year the students with the help of Sophie VALKENBURG-DOAK (HKU) and Daniel SCOTT-ALGARA (Institut Pasteur) will identify lymphocyte populations that are stimulated to induce the production of cytokines and compare several techniques such as flow cytometry (intracellular cytokine staining, ICS) versus Elispot.

5th HKU-Pasteur Immunology Course: Open Public Lectures

The programme of the Immunology Seminar Series of the 5th HKU-Pasteur Immunology Course is now available.

This year, Dr ACUTO (UK), Dr VILLADANGOS (Australia), Dr MALISSEN (France), Dr PELLEGRINI (France) and Dr SCHWARTZ (France) will give open public lectures on Adaptive Immunity.
