COVID-19: Advances and Remaining Challenges

Save the date! The Institut Pasteur will organize an international conference from September 29th to October 1st 2021 on COVID-19 advances and remaining challenges. 

The conference will bring together experts on COVID-19 from around the globe. Leading researchers and clinicians will cover the main advances and remaining challenges in virology, clinical presentations and management, epidemiology, and vaccinology for COVID-19. The conference will take place at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France and will be livestreamed.

Date: September 29th - October 1st 2021

[Hiring] C2i is looking for a Research Assistant I/II

The Centre for Immunology & Infection (C2i) uses novel technology platforms for biomarker discovery and the development of new vaccine and therapeutic strategies. 
It is the fruit of a long-standing partnership of more than 20 years between the LKS Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) and the Institut Pasteur, Paris, two major international leaders combining their expertise to establish this centre of excellence.
Building on the individual strengths of HKUMed and the Institut Pasteur, the C2i aims to characterise immune responses to infectious agents and their components in a healthy Asian population and develop new vaccine platforms for influenza, new strategies for mosquito-borne viruses and new treatments for lethal respiratory virus infections. 
Research Assistant I/II (Ref.: C2i023P1)
Applications are now invited for appointment as Research Assistant I/II (Ref.: C2i023P1), to commence as soon as possible, on a one year contract basis, with the possibility of renewalsubject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Biomedical Sciences or related disciplines, and relevant research experience in one or more of these areas: Virology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry and Bioinformatics.  They should have a good command of written and spoken English and strong communication skills, and also be self-motivated, organized, detail-minded, hardworking and able to conduct independent and collaborative research, and work well in an interdisciplinary team.
The appointees are expected to contribute to translational research projects in Immunology and Infection that will investigate the boundaries of functional immune responses to infectious agents for biomarker discoveries (  Working off-campus may be required. Work outside office hours and on weekends may also be required occasionally. 
A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

The Institut Pasteur Biobanking MOOC is now open

The MOOC Biobanking, created by the Institut Pasteur and directed by Mery Pina, Deputy Director of the Biological Resources Center of Institut Pasteur (CRBIP), is now open for registration on FUN, a French MOOC platform.

In this MOOC, the organizational aspects of sampling, collection, transport and conservation of different biological resources, which vary depending on the material considered, are discussed, as well as the organization and management of a biobank and its equipment. Peculiarities of human sampling and of the conservation and utilization of human samples is approached. Several sessions are devoted to the quality control of these biobanks to meet international regulations.

The Institut Pasteur Emerging and re-emerging viruses MOOC is now open

The MOOC Emerging and re-emerging viruses, created by the Institut Pasteur in collaboration with the Department of Public Health Microbiology of the Bavarian Health and Food Safety Authority (LGL) in Germany.

The course is co-directed by Hilde Angermeier, microbiologist at the LGL, and Jean-Pierre Vartanian, notably the Co-Director of the Fundamental Virology course at the Institut Pasteur.

The course is now open for registration on FUN, a French MOOC platform. This MOOC aims at providing participants with a fundamental knowledge about the different viruses that are involved in viral emergence and describes the associated molecular mechanisms and conditions that drive their emergence. Those range from viral mutations to climate change, the impact of urbanization to alterations in human behaviour.
